Replacement hinge kits are shipping!
You’ve been waiting, we’ve been working and they’re finally heading out to their new homes! These kits are going to be delivered to everyone who received the recall notice in August. If you did not receive that notice, the hinges you have are good to go. If you’re unsure, reach out to our Community Liaisons at support@origamipaddler.com and they’ll be happy to help you.
Each kit includes:
You will need to keep and reuse your rotational pins, screws, hinge bungees, pin keeper bungees, hinge pins, and hinge cords.
To ensure the very best experience, we are including a new set of drain plugs made of a different material with each hinge replacement kit.
We have changed the way we are making the drain plug hole, so each boat that we have shipped in the last few weeks should have drain plugs that stay in place more reliably. Since we can’t change the hole in the previous boats- we are sending plugs that will “hold” better. We will continue to work directly with any member of our community that this directly affects to ensure these solutions work for them.

What should I do with my old hinges?
Please recycle the hinges that were recalled. They can go in your blue recycle bin at home! If this option is not available to you, please reach out and we’ll do our best to help you find an environmentally friendly alternative!

What should I do if I’m having trouble installing new hinges?
